IRON
Xpeng's next-generation humanoid has a production line running and a 2027 launch plan, but no price and no household use announced.
What it cannot do yet
- Be bought: Xpeng has announced no price, order page or home product
- Show a home use today: first deployments are at Xpeng's own stores and campuses
IRON is the humanoid robot from Xpeng, the Chinese electric-car maker. It is one of the least relevant humanoids to a home buyer in the next year: Xpeng’s plan starts with its own stores and campuses, and it has announced no price.
Where production stands
On September 8, 2026, Xpeng announced that its humanoid production line was commissioned and running, with more than 80% of core processes automated. IRON completed assembly and walked off the line on its own. CnEVPost notes that commissioning does not mean mass production has begun. Xpeng says mass production will start by the end of 2026, with initial deployments at its own stores and campuses, and that official launch and deliveries in China and overseas are planned for 2027. The company did not disclose line capacity or the robot’s price. Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng said the lines “were created from scratch with no precedent to follow.”
What it is
The next-generation IRON was unveiled in November 2025. Xpeng lists:
- 76 degrees of freedom across the body and 21 in each hand.
- A fully enclosed, flexible lattice structure meant to balance a human-like look with safety.
- Three in-house Turing AI chips with up to 2,250 TOPS of effective compute.
- Xpeng’s own physical AI foundation model running on the robot.
The CnEVPost report did not give height or weight, and we did not find them in a source we could open. Any price you see online for IRON is an estimate, not an Xpeng figure; the company has announced none.
Remote operation and data
Xpeng says IRON does complex tasks autonomously without remote operation, and cites lower inference latency and better data security as benefits. That is a company claim and nothing has been shown in a customer home. The privacy guide covers what to ask any maker about cameras and cloud processing.
The business context
On August 24, 2026, Xpeng’s robotics unit, Dogotix, signed agreements for about $900 million in financing commitments, led by IDG Capital with Alibaba and Tencent as strategic investors, at an implied post-money valuation of about $6.3 billion. Xpeng expects humanoids to earn more gross profit per unit than its electric cars but gave no forecast.
What is unconfirmed
Price, weight, battery life, payload, any household task and whether overseas deliveries in 2027 will include consumers. The FCC’s July 2026 Covered List action on foreign-produced robots may also affect US sales of newer models; read can you buy a humanoid robot today.
