1X NEO vs Figure 03
You can reserve NEO today. You cannot buy Figure 03. Figure shows more autonomy on video, NEO shows more of a business plan. Neither is verified in a customer's home.

If you want to put a home humanoid on order today, NEO wins by default: it is the only one of the two with a price and an order page. Figure 03 has neither. On the evidence of autonomy, Figure’s published results are stronger on paper, but they are company-reported and come from test homes, not customers. Neither robot has independently verified deliveries to ordinary households as of November 1, 2026.

Price and ordering
NEO costs $20,000 to own, with a three-year warranty, or $499 a month with a Starter Productivity Package. Early Access owners are served first, then subscribers, according to 1X’s FAQ as quoted by Offbrand Human. The deposit is refundable until the robot is ready for delivery. For the full math, see subscription versus buying.
Figure has published no price. CEO Brett Adcock told TIME in October 2025 that Figure 03 was not ready for home use and would go first to select partners, and that “We think we can get there in 2026, but it’s a big push.” By September 2026 he said his best-case goal for the year, a robot doing long-horizon autonomous work in a home, had not been reached, and he described Figure 04 as the biggest hardware leap between generations. Whether the first consumer Figure robot is the 03 or the 04 is unknown.
Two bets on how to get to autonomy
1X ships a robot with a human behind it. NEO arrives with basic autonomy. For tasks it cannot do, a 1X Expert drives it remotely during sessions you schedule, and 1X says the robot learns from them. The Wall Street Journal’s 2025 test showed the approach working with a person in a VR headset, and an early hands-on report said NEO could not complete a single household task without a human controlling it. The cost of this approach is privacy: see the privacy guide.
Figure aims for autonomy before it sells. Its Helix 02 videos show dishwasher loading, living room tidying and a two-robot bedroom reset, and Figure says they are autonomous. The Helix 2.5 post from September 17, 2026 reports a 56% full-task success rate on tidying, towel folding and bed making in 30 unseen Bay Area homes, with no data collected there. Humanoids Daily counted 237 successes in 420 trials. That is encouraging and also means roughly 4 in 10 full attempts failed. The homes were evaluation sites, not customers.
Hardware that matters at home
NEO lists a lift capacity of 154 lb, a carry capacity of 55 lb and a battery of about four hours. Figure’s launch post says Figure 03 charges wirelessly at 2 kW through coils in its feet and can dock itself during the day, and emphasizes washable soft goods and a louder speaker. Figure has not published weight, payload or runtime, so a spec-for-spec comparison is not possible.
Scale
1X opened a Hayward factory on April 30, 2026 with a first-year capacity of 10,000 units and a target of more than 100,000 a year by the end of 2027, according to The Next Web. The first robots went to internal testing. Figure said on April 29, 2026 that more than 350 Figure 03 robots had been delivered and that its BotQ plant had gone from one robot a day to one an hour. Figure’s robots go to internal R&D, data collection and commercial use, including a Figure 03 at BMW’s Spartanburg plant.
Safety and data
Both describe soft, pinch-resistant bodies. Adcock said Figure’s robot is not strong enough to cause physical harm. Figure said it would detect, blur and replace personal information in home data used for training. 1X says NEO can block off rooms and blur faces. None of this is independently tested, and neither robot has been proven around children or pets. See the safety guide.
The record so far
1X NEO
- Oct 28, 2025: pre-orders open at $20,000 or $499 a month. 1X says the first-year batch sold out in five days; Offbrand Human notes that figure counts $200 refundable deposits, not paid robots.
- Apr 30, 2026: the Hayward factory opens; early units go to internal R&D and home testing.
- Jul 9, 2026: 1X details NEO’s 25-degree-of-freedom hands.
- Oct 2026: no independently verified customer delivery.
Figure 03
- Oct 9, 2025: Figure 03 is unveiled; Adcock says it is not ready for home use.
- Jan 27, 2026: Helix 02 shows full-body autonomy, including a dishwasher run.
- Apr 29, 2026: more than 350 Figure 03 robots delivered; production reaches one an hour.
- Jun 30, 2026: a Figure 03 appears at BMW’s Spartanburg plant.
- Sep 17, 2026: Helix 2.5 reports 56% success across 30 test homes.
- Sep 30, 2026: Figure decommissions its Figure 02 fleet.
Which should you pick?
- You want a place in line now: NEO, with the refundable deposit and your eyes open about Expert Mode.
- You want the strongest autonomy evidence: follow Figure, but nothing is orderable.
- You want proof from real owners: wait. Neither has it.
- You want chores done reliably this year: neither, yet. See what a home humanoid can do and humanoid versus robot vacuum.
What would change the verdict
A verified NEO delivery with independent owner reports, a Figure price and order page, and a published policy on remote operators in customer homes would each shift the answer.
Common questions
Is the Figure 03 better than the 1X NEO?
On paper Figure shows more autonomy, with a reported 56% full-task success in 30 unseen homes. But Figure 03 cannot be bought, and NEO is the only one with a price and order page. Neither has independent owner reports.
Can I buy the Figure 03?
No. Figure has published no price, order page or consumer delivery date. Its CEO said in October 2025 that getting a Figure robot into homes in 2026 was a big push.
Which is cheaper, NEO or Figure 03?
NEO is $20,000 or $499 a month. Figure has not announced a price, so no comparison is possible.
Do both robots use remote human operators?
NEO does, through scheduled Expert Mode sessions. Figure says its demo videos are autonomous and has not published a remote-operator policy for home units.
Are the NEO and Figure 03 the same size?
Both are about 5 feet 6 inches tall. NEO weighs 66 pounds; Figure has not published Figure 03’s weight.
